Baby William – Corpus Christi Hostage Incident
This presentation examines a multi-jurisdictional hostage incident involving Joshua Wallin, who abducted his estranged wife and one-year-old son, Baby William. The incident began in Oklahoma and continued into Texas, where law enforcement initiated a pursuit after the suspect was located. During the pursuit, the suspect threatened the hostages with a firearm and ultimately entered Corpus Christi, where his vehicle was disabled. Following the pursuit, the suspect fled into a public restaurant while holding Baby William at gunpoint, resulting in a prolonged hostage situation. This case study will explore the negotiation strategies, leadership decisions, and communication challenges involved in managing a high-risk incident with an infant hostage, emphasizing the role of patience, empathy, and disciplined negotiation.
